Your USA study journey
Honest, course-first guidance for the most competitive study destination — from university applications to the F-1 visa interview and OPT planning.
University admissions
A realistic shortlist of US universities — ranging from flagship state universities to liberal arts colleges — matched to your academic record, budget and intended major, not to which school is easiest to get into.
F-1 student visa & I-20
Guidance on obtaining your I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) from your SEVP-approved institution, paying the SEVIS I-901 fee, completing the DS-160 accurately, and booking your consular appointment.
DS-160 preparation
Accurate, consistent DS-160 completion — every answer cross-checked against your supporting documents. Inconsistencies between your form and your documents are the easiest way to draw the wrong attention at the interview.
Consular interview preparation
Honest, realistic preparation for the visa interview at the US Consulate — the interview is the single most important stage of the US student visa process and it is decided by the officer, not by paperwork alone.
Genuine funds & ties to India
Guidance on how to present genuine financial support for your studies and how to demonstrate strong ties to India — both are central to the consular officer's assessment.
OPT & STEM OPT
Plain-English advice on Optional Practical Training — 12 months of post-study work authorisation, with a further 24-month STEM OPT extension for qualifying STEM graduates — so your major and school choice supports your plans from day one.
What you'll need
The US consular officer makes the final decision. These are the foundations of a strong, credible F-1 application.
Strong academic record
US universities weight your 12th-grade marks, English scores and (for many programmes) SAT/GRE/GMAT. We map your profile to institutions where you are genuinely competitive — never universities you are unlikely to graduate from.
English test score
Most universities require IELTS 6.0–7.0 or TOEFL iBT 72–100+ depending on the institution and programme; some accept PTE Academic. *Confirm the exact requirement for your target programme.
Genuine, documented financial support
You must show the consular officer that you or your sponsor genuinely has sufficient funds to cover the full cost of your US education — typically USD 30,000–80,000+ per year depending on the institution. *Confirm with your specific university's cost of attendance. Funds must be real, with a clear and credible source of income. Show-money is detected and destroys your case.
Strong ties to India
The F-1 visa assumes you intend to return to India on completing your studies. You must satisfy the officer that you have genuine ties — family responsibilities, property, career plans, a clear reason to return. This is the most common reason Punjabi students are refused F-1 visas.
From first counselling to campus in the USA
US applications require the most lead time of any destination — start at least 12–18 months before your intended intake.
Profile review & university shortlist
We assess your 12th marks, gaps, budget, intended major and career goal, then build a realistic shortlist — reach, match and safe options — with a full cost estimate in rupees covering tuition, living and travel.
English test (IELTS / TOEFL / PTE)
We advise on the right test for your target institutions, the score you need, and a preparation plan. TOEFL iBT is more widely required than IELTS at US universities — we confirm this for each school on your list.
Applications, essays & I-20
We guide your applications, personal essays and supporting documents. Once admitted, your university issues an I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) — you need this before you can proceed to the visa stage.
SEVIS fee, DS-160 & appointment
You pay the SEVIS I-901 fee online, complete the DS-160 accurately (we check every answer), and book your F-1 visa appointment at the US Consulate in Chennai, Mumbai or New Delhi.
Visa interview & pre-departure
We prepare you honestly for the consular interview — the officer's decision cannot be predicted or guaranteed, but a truthful, well-prepared applicant with genuine funds and clear ties gives themselves the best possible chance. On approval, we brief you on travel, SEVIS check-in and first-week steps on campus.
The interview decides it — prepare the honest way
The United States F-1 student visa is unlike any other: a consular officer at the US Consulate General makes a face-to-face decision in minutes, and their decision is final. No amount of paperwork substitutes for a confident, truthful applicant who knows why they are going to study in the USA and why they will return to India afterward.
Punjabi students are refused F-1 visas for predictable reasons: funds that look borrowed or inflated, a study plan that does not convincingly explain the choice of school and major, and ties to India that the officer does not find credible. We prepare you to address each of these honestly. We will not script rehearsed answers — officers see through them immediately. We will help you understand your own genuine story well enough to tell it clearly, confidently and consistently.
- SEVP-approved universities only — we verify institutional accreditation before recommending any school
- DS-160 completed accurately with every answer cross-checked against your supporting documents
- Genuine, well-documented financial support — show-money and inflated balances are detected and destroy F-1 cases
- Honest interview coaching — your own true story, told clearly, not a scripted performance
- Strong ties to India evidenced genuinely — the most important and most overlooked part of an F-1 application
- OPT and STEM OPT eligibility mapped to your major and school choice from day one
Questions about Study in the USA
The I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status) is a document issued by your SEVP-approved US university after you are admitted and have shown sufficient financial support. You cannot apply for an F-1 visa without a valid I-20. Once you receive your I-20, you pay the SEVIS I-901 fee, then complete the DS-160 and book your consular appointment. We guide you through each step.
A consular officer at the US Consulate (Chennai, Mumbai or New Delhi) will interview you, typically for 2–5 minutes. They will ask about your intended course, choice of university, your funds, your ties to India and your plans after graduation. The officer's decision is final and cannot be appealed in the usual sense. We prepare you to answer these questions honestly, clearly and confidently — not with scripted answers, which officers recognise immediately and which damage your credibility.
You must demonstrate to the consular officer that you or your sponsor genuinely has sufficient funds to cover the full cost of attendance at your US university for at least the first year (and ideally for the full programme). Cost of attendance varies widely — from approximately USD 25,000 per year at public universities to USD 70,000+ at private ones. *Confirm your specific university's cost of attendance. Funds must be real and the source must be credible — borrowed money, inflated balances or sudden large deposits are detected and typically result in refusal.
Optional Practical Training (OPT) allows F-1 graduates to work in the USA in a role related to their major for up to 12 months after completing their degree. Students who graduated in a STEM-designated field may apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, giving up to 3 years of post-study work experience in total. OPT and STEM OPT require separate applications to USCIS through your Designated School Official (DSO). *Confirm current USCIS OPT and STEM OPT rules before relying on them for your planning.
Yes, you can reapply for an F-1 visa after a refusal — there is no mandatory waiting period, though you should address the reason for refusal before reapplying. Most F-1 refusals for Punjabi students come down to one of three things: funds that appeared suspicious, a study plan that was not convincing, or insufficient ties to India. We review your refusal with you honestly, identify what the officer's real concern was, fix the underlying weakness genuinely, and rebuild your application before you try again.
